And the Syreen, from before the war, were just looking for a place to live without being attacked by giant egg monsters or the Vux. ![]() I think, based on the conversations with the Kzer-Za, that they truly believed their "social order" was a boon to the races that it was "gifted" upon and destroying a race would require substantial reason. I don't think the Kzer-Za would have stooped so low as to annihilate the Syreen. The Syreen fighting ships were even placed into some kind of vault, just in case.someone could steal them again, even though it's canon that you can't pilot a ship without a native captain at the controls, and thus useless to the Ur-Quan. No defense force placed around the system, like Earth. No drone warning people not to approach the Syreen starbase. Special effort to find them a nice planet. Indeed, the Syreen seemed to get treated with kids' gloves. ![]() Out of all the races of the Alliance, this should have been THE RACE that scared the Ur-Quan. I mean, instead, that the Syreen were quite specifically the sort of thing the Ur-Quan were afraid of: a psychically-gifted race that could psychically enslave other races, like the Dnyarri did. The Kzer-Za were a mixture of brutal and merciful they wanted to stop themselves from ever being made slaves again, but saw themselves as also doing "lesser races" a service by protecting them from the very real dangers of the Kohr-Ah and even racial self-annihilation. I don't mean to say that the Ur-Quan Kzer-Za were traditional bad guys and them finding the Syreen a new and beautiful world for them, when the Alliance apparently abandoned them after the end of the war, was somehow out of character. Here's a question that always bugged me: why were the Syreen treated so well by the Ur-Quan Kzer-Za after the end of the first war? (This is my first post to Reddit, if I've formatted it incorrectly let me know please!) Same for all other SC1 and SC2 races and ships.Use (/urquan) to produce in comments or posts.Flair Star Control Origins thread as SCO. ![]()
